The danger for perfectionists with eating disorders is that they will try to change themselves by killing themselves- physically, emotionally, or spirtitually. Instead of protesting the fashion’s ludicrous insistence that grown woman wear a size 4, they will shrink themselves to a size 0. Instead of challenging someone, they will silence themselves. Instead of confronting a boss who overworks them, they will sacrafice their personal life to prove they can take any amount of punishment. Unfortunately, what perfectionists strive to prove is impossible. What kills us will NOT make us stronger, or prettier, or more loveable.
